Trevor Harness

With over 25 years of Health and Safety and Emergency Service experience, Trevor has an extensive background in emergency management and crisis intervention, serving as both a 911 emergency call taker and dispatcher, as well as a frontline police officer. In addition, his professional background also includes working with the Ministry of Health’s Air Ambulance program, where he was responsible for emergency dispatch of helicopters and evacuation of patients, which included extensive interaction with Northern communities and over 35 First Nations across Ontario. In addition, Trevor’s knowledge and experience in Emergency Management provides clients with real-life knowledge and expertise, having assisted in the emergency response and co-ordination of several large-scale community events, including the Walkerton water crisis, SARS, 911, the Blackout of 2003, tornadoes, lost aircraft, boats and missing hikers, as well as a large-scale factory explosion and community evacuation.
As a certified Instructor in Adult Education and Training, Trevor brings a dynamic and enthusiastic approach as an Instructor and takes pride in creating a fun and engaging learning environment. Trevor is a licenced Training Provider with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
In his current role as a Program Co-ordinator, Trevor is responsible for the development and supervision of all Health and Safety training curriculum and course delivery. This includes overseeing day-to-day operations, scheduling and co-ordination of all instructional and administrative support staff. In addition, he also serves as the Primary Instructor for several courses, including Workplace Violence, CRISIS Communications and De-escalation, WHMIS, JHSC Certification, Supervisor LEAD training, and serves as Lead Investigator for the C.I.R.T Team. As the Program Co-ordinator, Trevor also sits on the Safety Review Committee (SRC), Incident Review Committee (IRC) and Curriculum Review Committee (CRC).
A graduate of the Ontario Police College, Sheridan, Algonquin, Mohawk and Fanshawe Colleges, Trevor has extensive background in both public and private law enforcement and Health and Safety, including a Diploma in Law and Security Management, Loss Prevention and holds both a Police Sciences and Police Management Certificate. In addition, he holds Honours Certificates in Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety and Adult Education, as well as Conflict Resolution and Mediation. Trevor has recently completed his Provincial and Federal NCSO certification exams. As a passionate Instructor, Trevor is committed to learning and is currently completing a Certificate in Criminal Behaviour and Psychology, as well as preparing to complete his CRST certification exams. In the Fall of 2023, Trevor will be starting his post-graduate Masters degree in Public Safety and Emergency Management in Spring 2024.
