Workplace Mental Health Verification

Check back soon for updates...

Workplace Mental Health Verification is a first-of-its-kind program that recognizes organizations actively supporting mental health.

It’s a practical, credible way to demonstrate your commitment — inside and outside of your organization.

What Is Workplace Mental Health Verification?

This streamlined process looks at how mental health is embedded in your training, policies, and supports – and awards verified status based on what’s in place.

If you’re still building your approach, we’ll provide clear, actionable recommendations to help achieve verified status.

Join a growing community of organizations helping define what workplace mental health leadership looks like in Canada.

This program is complementary to mental health training. Training builds awareness and skills; WMHV verifies your broader, organization-wide approach—and gives you a way to signal that commitment to employees, clients, partners, and your entire sector.

What We Measure

The Workplace Mental Health Verification program evaluates key elements to improve mental health in the workplace, including:

  • Mental health awareness and crisis intervention training
  • Access to benefits or community-based mental health supports
  • Integration of mental health into policies and procedures
  • Regular inclusion of mental health in meetings and internal communications
  • Clear accountability for mental health at the leadership or team level

You’ll need to submit documentation from the past 12 months—or proof of upcoming plans within 3 months of application.

  • Are 10% of current employees within the organization trained in crisis intervention for mental health?
  • Have 20% of employees within the organization participated in mental health in the workplace awareness training within the last 12 months?
  • Do you have Certified Mental Health First Aiders to meet the needs of employees?
  • Do your employees have access to mental health resources through benefit plans or clearly communicated community resources?
  • Do any current policies or procedures include mental health supports or psychological health and safety?
  • Is mental health an agenda topic within safety meetings and/or team meetings?

How It Works

  • Step 1: Submit Your Application Answer a short list of questions and upload simple documentation showing how your organization meets the criteria.
  • Step 2: Get Evaluated A trained verifier will assess your submission using a clear scoring system aligned with key workplace mental health benchmarks.
  • Step 3: Receive Your Status You’ll earn one of two outcomes:
      – Verified – Meets or exceeds standards
      – Provisionally Verified – Nearly there, with next steps and timelines provided
  • Step 4: Promote Your Commitment Your Recognition Kit helps you showcase your status to employees, stakeholders, and your broader network.

Your verification is valid for two years, after which you’ll be invited to re-verify with updated documentation.

Set the Standard. Be the Signal.

By becoming Workplace Mental Health Verified, you:

  • Align with a credible, evidence-informed workplace mental health framework
