Course Information
Join us for a virtual delivery of the Mental Health First Aid course. This full-day session (8:30am-4:00pm) features interactive activities to develop practical skills for assisting those in need. No prior experience with online classrooms is necessary.
Course Objectives: Participants will learn to:
- Recognize signs of mental well-being decline or mental health crises.
- Encourage discussions about mental well-being.
- Discuss professional and other supports for recovery.
- Reach out to these supports.
- Assist in mental health or substance use crises.
- Use MHFA actions to maintain personal mental well-being.
Certification: Successful participants will receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
Pre-Course Requirement: Participants must complete a self-directed module (Module 1) before the full-day virtual course. This module covers information and strategies discussed in the virtual classroom modules (Modules 2 and 3). Completion of Module 1 is mandatory before participating in Modules 2 and 3.
Materials: Upon registration, participants will receive access to the “MHFA Participant Reference Guide,” which outlines MHFA actions for mental health and substance use problems and crises.
Self-Directed Component: Participants must complete the self-directed component (approximately 2 hours) before attending the virtual classroom modules and submit proof of completion before the start time.

Cancellation Policy:
- If the course is cancelled, advance notice and alternative dates will be provided, or a full refund will be issued.
- Participant cancellations:
- 45 or more days prior to course date: Full refund
- 30-44 days prior to course date: 50% refund
- Less than 30 days prior to course date: Non-refundable
- If a participant does not complete Module 1 by the specified deadline, the registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.
