Enrollment in this training course is only available for those who are interested in becoming OM PHS Assessors (approved applicants only).
The Opening Minds Psychological Health and Safety Assessor training prepares Assessors-in-Training (AITs) to effectively carry out the assessment process, including
- collecting documentation
- recording information in the AuditSoft assessment tool
- generating an assessment report, and
- producing an action plan.
The AITs will learn and practice these skills using AuditSoft, and through scenarios, group discussions, role play, and other interactive excises. Throughout the course, AITs will receive feedback from the facilitator and exchange feedback with their peers.
The course is divided into six modules:
- Module 1: Being a PHS Assessor
- Module 2: Preparing for an Effective Assessment
- Module 3: Gathering Evidence Through Documentation Review and Observation
- Module 4: Gathering Evidence Through Interviews
- Module 5: Recording Findings and Assigning Scores
- Module 6: Summarizing Information, Communicating Results, and Closing the Assessment
Each module consists of a facilitator-led session, combined with self-paced preparation activities to complete before the module, and an application task to be completed in AuditSoft after each live module.
Total – 40 hours of coursework
- Live session – 4 hours per module (x6)
- Self-paced preparation & practice – approximately 3 hours (x5)
- The course is currently scheduled over a two-week period.

Note: the course uses the OM PHS Assessment Tool, in partnership with AuditSoft. AuditSoft is available for use on Microsoft operating systems, or Macs running Parallels. There is no Mac OS version of AudtiSoft.
