Mental Health First Aid: Adults Who Interact with Youth

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program that teaches participants how to recognize signs that a young person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis, and how to provide support until appropriate professional help is obtained or the crisis is resolved.

This course is intended for adults who interact with youth aged 12–24, including parents, caregivers, teachers, educational professionals, child and youth workers, foster parents, coaches, mentors, and community service providers.

Course Format

  • Module 1: 2-hour self-directed online learning
  • Module 2: 4-hour facilitated virtual session
  • Module 3: 4-hour facilitated virtual session

Participants who successfully complete all course requirements will receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate issued through Opening Minds.
