Advocate and champion, Michel Rodrigue announces plans to retire as head of the Mental Health Commission of Canada

Michel Rodrigue

STATEMENT

From: Mental Health Commission of Canada (Board Chair)

Michel Rodrigue joined the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) in 2015 and has been President and CEO since April 2021. During his tenure with MHCC, Michel has led the organization through several transformations. He was the architect of MHCC’s 10-year strategic plan, Answering the Call. He transitioned MHCC into a charitable organization, launched the social enterprise Opening Minds, and led the way in evolving countless partnerships across Canada and internationally.

On behalf of the board, leadership, and staff, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for Michel’s unwavering commitment to the MHCC and to working tirelessly to raise the profile of mental health issues in Canada and abroad.

Michel has been an adept and compassionate leader who worked tirelessly to prepare the organization for a successful and impactful future. He has remained steadfast during challenging times and is the organization’s biggest cheerleader. We will miss Michel greatly.

Illustrating his usual dedication; Michel will stay on while we search for his replacement. We anticipate the board will conclude the search between April and June 2025.
